I contributed a written piece to Chatham House’s work on “Myths and misconceptions around Russian military intent – How they affect Western policy, and what can be done”, in which a number of authors discussed common misconceptions regarding Russian military intent, as well as the policy implications of these.

My myth was entitled ‘Russia creates impenetrable “A2/AD bubbles”’, and I noted that Russia’s anti-access/area denial systems are less of an impenetrable barrier than is commonly assumed. It would be a mistake for NATO to limit its military options out of an erroneous fear of Russian capabilities.
