I got the opportunity to write an article for the Norwegian air power journal Luftled on how the Finnish and Swedish NATO memberships have changed Norway’s position in NATO, and the impact it will have. In particular I discuss the fact that any logistical chains drawn on a map will need to have a holistic point of view, identifying bottlenecks for the whole flow from the Atlantic to the front line or civil society that sits on the other end of the route and not just focus on individual nodes or lines. I also note that the fact that these routes involve several different countries means any kind of planning will have a multi-national angle to it, and questions such as who is responsible for which hub when it comes to both logistics and defence might need new thinking.
